Discover Tesla's hidden subwoofer Easter egg triggered by adjusting the equalizer.
Tesla's V11 update included a subtle easter egg that many owners initially missed. The release also introduced independent subwoofer control in the audio equalizer, giving drivers more precise control over bass levels.

With the update, Tesla added independent subwoofer control to the equalizer. The feature debuted on the new Model S and Model X and was rolled out to the Model 3 and Model Y in update 2021.44.25. Along with providing finer subwoofer adjustment, the update enhances the vehicle’s immersive sound experience.
The subwoofer reproduces low-frequency audio (bass and sub-bass). The new tunability lets users precisely control subwoofer output for fuller, bass-forward sound when desired.
A playful easter egg appears when the subwoofer is maxed out. To view it:
- Open the music player, tap the rightmost icon, and choose Tone to access the equalizer.
- Raise Bass to its maximum, then slide the Subwoofer control all the way up.
Each time you lower and raise the subwoofer level, the displayed maximum value cycles through a set of entertaining labels.
The easter egg cycles randomly through these labels:
- 9001.0 (It’s over 9,000!)
- SLAPPIN
- WUB-WUB
- BRRRRRR
- BOOST
- BOOOM
- 11.0
- 6.0 (default max)
This subwoofer tunability—and the associated easter egg—is available only on vehicles equipped with premium audio and MCU2 or later.
