Tesla Enhances Camera Visibility Alerts in FSD v14.2.2 Update
Tesla continues its rapid cadence of software updates, even through the holidays. The 2025.45.5 release, paired with FSD V14.2.2, resolves another common user frustration that...

When Tesla rolled out FSD V14, it added prominent camera-visibility warnings that appear when lenses are obscured by dirt, debris, or glare. Early implementations, however, drew criticism because the alerts didn’t clearly identify which camera was affected—only a generic prompt and a camera image were provided—making it difficult, especially for rear cameras, to determine which lens needed cleaning. As a result, drivers often cleaned all cameras rather than the single one at fault.
Users raised this concern on December 13, catching the attention of Yun-Ta Tsai, a Senior Staff Software Engineer on Tesla’s AI team, who acknowledged the feedback and committed to improving the prompt.
As promised, the change arrived in the recent, undocumented release of FSD V14.2.2 and software version 2025.45.5. The updated notification now overlays a text label on the camera image to explicitly identify the obscured camera, using a design consistent with the vehicle’s Dashcam app. This simple quality-of-life enhancement removes the guesswork, enabling drivers to clean the correct lens quickly and restore full FSD functionality.
