Tesla to Soon Introduce Full Self-Driving (FSD) in Israel
Israel, known as the "startup nation," has consistently excelled in autonomous vehicle technology. Mobileye, the Driver Assist System (DAS) previously utilized by Tesla before developing their in-house solution, is a prime example of Israel's prowess in this field.

While various companies in Israel are actively working on autonomy, Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software is not yet available in the country. However, Israel's Ministry of Transportation is currently conducting advanced regulatory reviews to approve the deployment of FSD. This move follows a petition initiated by a group of Tesla owners in Israel, urging Transportation Minister Miri Regev to authorize FSD due to its proven safety benefits in other markets.
Minister Regev has shown proactive support for innovative technologies like FSD and has expedited the approval process, pending safety checks. This development has garnered praise from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who emphasized FSD's convenience and safety enhancements.
Tesla officially entered the Israeli market in 2021, making its vehicles accessible to the country's 10 million residents. Recent updates, such as the introduction of Hebrew language support in 2023, have further enhanced the Tesla experience for Israeli customers. Many vehicles in Israel are equipped with HW4, Tesla's latest FSD hardware, simplifying the activation of FSD features in most vehicles.
The anticipated cost of FSD in Israel is approximately 26,000 ILS ($8,000 USD), with a subscription option expected at around 325 ILS per month ($99 USD). The rollout process is likely to follow a staged approach, similar to previous launches in other countries, with priority given to AI4 owners initially.
Approval of FSD in Israel opens up opportunities for Tesla to expand its autonomous driving services in the Middle East. The potential introduction of Robotaxi services in Israel could further accelerate Tesla's international expansion and provide valuable data on unique driving conditions in the region.
As FSD continues to roll out globally, Israel's involvement could mark a significant milestone in Tesla's journey towards widespread autonomous driving solutions.
